The Rough and Ready Fire Department, formed as a Volunteer Department in 1963 is based in a state-of-the-art Fire Station centrally located in downtown, completed in 2012. The Department, as of July 2023, is in the process of re-organizing, along with the Penn Valley and Consolidated Fire Protection Districts, into a single, unified District.

Until such time, expected by mid 2024, emergency services

will be provided by units of Penn Valley and Consolidated,

staffing the station around the clock.

Fundraising efforts for Station 59, such as the Monthly

Spaghetti Dinner, held on the 3rd Thursday of the month

at 5pm, will continue. A support organization, The Rough and

Ready Fire Association (RoughandReadyFire.org) is actively

seeking new members to support the equipment needs of

Station #59 firefighters. You are also encouraged to support

the station by purchasing T-shirts, mugs, stickers and other

Station 59 merchandise at
